Fly Tying Session Thursday 29th October 2026
We meet for our next Fly-Tying session at the Baskerville Arms at 19:00 – 21:30 on Thurs 29th October 2026.
We had nearly a full room at the start of the month, let’s hope you are all free to come along this Thursday!
Programme
Trout and Grayling Group
John W is pausing the Trout and Grayling course for a couple of sessions to allow our new members to catch up with the basic techniques – however you are welcome to tie a Beaded Pheasant Tail Nymph and a Purple Nymph as a group. Dressings (PDF).
Sea Trout and Salmon Group
Peter will be tying Black and Yellow tubes and coneheads for spring salmon in a variety of styles. Dressings (PDF).
Attached are images of different types – Peter will tie with plastic and copper tubes in different sizes.
BTW, the Goat’s Toe that Peter tied for Sea Trout loch fishing at the start of the month, unexpectedly caught a 6lb Salmon but no Sea Trout. So, the patterns do work, but not always as planned!!
Mid Season Dinner / Social
We are planning to have our regular mid-season Dinner & Social at the Baskerville Arms on Thursday 10th December at 7pm. We hope everyone is free to come along.
In order to firm up the numbers, please can you let Charles know if you would like to attend.
Menus for pre-ordering and paying will be available shortly.
The British Fly Fair International (BFFI)
The annual BFFI will be held at the Staffordshire County Showground again, on Sat 6th and Sunday 7th February 2027. Well worth visiting to see superb worldclass fly tyers demonstrating their skill. The FDG hold their AGM at the show on the Saturday late afternoon.
