Grayling 28th December 2019 River Test
The five us met by the farm entrance in a light drizzle. The Met Office had forecasted no rain for the day . Apparently that the weather Deity had not bothered to read the forecast for the morning.
We made our way to Beat number one down the track which was a little sticky, but we all made it to the riverbank. The river was high with some colour. The drizzle gave way to a overcast day with no further rain. Swans were in evidence some 20 in all. Early in the session a chap appeared on the far bank to throw in fish pellets a feeding frenzy followed. This indication of plentiful fish 🐟 did not show up in our catch returns for the morning.
Lunch at 12.30 was a jolly affair with Peter Providing the Cockburn’s Port and Phil dispensing his home-made potent Sloe Gin plus Mince Pies and Strudel. A merry bunch returned to the riverbank.
The afternoon session found the fish more cooperative both to beaded nymphs and for one hour at least the Klinkhammer. In all some 40 fish caught and returned. We completed our day at 3.30pm
In all a very pleasant day to end the Christmas Festivities.
