Grayling Trip 29th December 2017
The forecast may have made lesser men turn over and go back to bed but the three Richard’s and two Peter’s decided to brave the conditions and head out for a day of grayling fishing. Driving down in heavy rain we did question the wisdom of the decision. When we arrived the owner told us the track was only passable to 4WD vehicles so it was a bit of walk for some of the crew. The morning started with heavy showers which cleared through leaving sunshine and blustery winds. A strong wind makes casting difficult but covers casting sins well also!. By lunch time we had 40 fish to the bank - the majority to weighted nymphs. The afternoon weather improved and sport was steady but not spectacular. The river had a lot more flow than last time so the fish were less spooky. We ended the day with over 70 fish and a fitting end to 2017.
